Flooring and Underfloor Heating

Flooring is one of the most important parts of any premises.  Whether it is a residential home or commercial property, having the right flooring is a must.  It has to look right, but also be functional as well.  Considerations such as the amount of foot traffic it will receive, the cleaning regime and what room it's for all have to be considered.  At South Coast Builders, we can install any sort of flooring, whether it be wood floors or carpets, tiled flooring or stone, we can do it all.  Also, if you are interested in having underfloor heating installed, we can do that as well.

Flooring
When it comes to flooring, there are a variety of options and a variety of different considerations.  Here is a list of some of the options for you to think about when choosing the flooring that you want.

Wood Floors – An elegant and refined look is created by wood flooring.  There are a number of different woods to choose from, with the decision coming down to factors such as how much it is going to be used (hard woods are best for areas that are highly trafficked), the look you are going for (aged, traditional, modern, etc.) as well as personal taste.  Wood floors also work well with underfloor heating (of which more later).  If you would like any help deciding on the best sort of wood floors to go for, our designers will be happy to offer advice and guidance.



Carpets – If you really want to express yourself, carpets are the perfect choice.  Coming in a wide variety of colours and textures, you can create any sort of atmosphere that you want.  They are also very versatile.  In a living room, a nice soft carpet will make it a pleasure to walk around in just socks or bare feet.  Alternatively for an office environment, a firmer carpet will help to create an atmosphere of professionalism and hard work.  If you would like any advice on choosing a carpet, our designers would be more than happy to help.



Marmoleum – This is a hard floor made up of a variety of different substances, fused together making it very durable.  It comes in a variety of different styles.  Perfect for the home, especially the kitchen, as well as an office environment.

Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating comes in both electrical and water based formats.  It is an ideal way to heat your home, meaning that you can get rid of unsightly and awkwardly placed radiators.  It is also an energy saver, as less heat is required to heat the room.  Rooms get heated evenly since the heat starts at the bottom and moves steadily up, unlike radiators which use a convection system.  On the whole, it is probably the best form of heating available.
